Rolling Stone has published a fascinating and horrifying report on America’s pork farms. I imagine most people will avoid this article, but it really is amazing. If you can’t be bothered to read the article at least know that bacon is probably the worst thing you could eat.
America’s top pork producer churns out a sea of waste that has destroyed rivers, killed millions of fish and generated one of the largest fines in EPA history. Welcome to the dark side of the other white meat.

The site worldcarfans.com somehow wrangled an exclusive sketch of the 2008 Prius along with details on specs. Check out the image on their site . For my taste the looks of the current Prius aren’t anything special in any regard. However, this 2008 looks pretty hot! Combine that hotness with increased power and 80 mpg in the city and all of a sudden I’m a fan.

Project Censored has published their top 25 censored stories of 2007. I’m not sure why it isn’t called the top 25 of 2006, but it’s not my list. Anyways, these are the stories the major media news companies downplayed or outright ignored. The full list with summaries is here: http://www.projectcensored.org/censored_2007/index.htm. Recommended reading unless oblivious was a new years resolution for you. Continue reading “Top 25 Censored News Stories of 2007”
The Jerusalem Post has an interesting article they posted a couple of days ago entitled, “The silent screams of women and girls”. It seems several Islamic countries are becoming well known for their mistreatment of women, but this article focuses on Iran. Here is a snippet from the article about their sigheh system. The whole article is a good, yet depressing read and can be found here: Jerusalem Post. Continue reading “The silent screams of women and girls”
It was announced today that the UN will soon have a new climate report that they consider to be rather comprehensive. It has some pretty strong information in it that supports global warming theorists. What will be interesting to see is what this does to the different sides of the climate debate. It really seems to be at the point where many balk at any mention of global warming. Maybe global warming needs a marketing team to make it more palatable to the masses.
Personally, I have a hard time really getting a solid understanding of the sheer scope of climatology so I am left to rely on reports and experts. Regardless of my understanding or the specifics on the global scene, I know that there are more tangible results to be had from improving our lifestyles. Save such and such wildlife area or animal, save money, improve our quality of life in this way and that.
Anyways, here is the Reuters article on the impending report if you want some preview action.
I think reading this really helped me get off my ass (figuratively) and create this site. Not that I am anti-senate as a theme or anything. It’s the thought that counts.
“Section 220 of S. 1, the lobbying reform bill currently before the Senate, would require grassroots causes, even bloggers, who communicate to 500 or more members of the public on policy matters, to register and report quarterly to Congress the same as the big K Street lobbyists. Section 220 would amend existing lobbying reporting law by creating the most expansive intrusion on First Amendment rights ever.”
Who in their right mind would want a law that sends you to jail for disagreeing with the government? Continue reading “Confusion about whose speech is free from what.”
