Petition time: USA trying to hinder climate progress at G8+5 summit

I’m never sure whether I like or dislike petition sites. They seem useless and fairly annoying and I have yet to hear the phrase, “We would have got away with this travesty too if it wasn’t for those meddling kids and their internet petition…” However, if the petition is easy and I agree with the statement, then I will sign it. By easy I mean to say that I hate the ones that ask for a laundry list of personal information. The petition I am linking in this post is very easy to fill out, and the subject is clear.

From 6-8 June, the leaders of the biggest polluting countries in the world are meeting in Germany at the G8+5 summit. Between them, their countries produce over 70% of global warming emissions. But while climate change is the top issue on their agenda, the Bush administration is trying to prevent any serious commitment to action.

If you agree with that statement then please go here to sign: http://www.avaaz.org/en/climate_g8/

What is up with Earth Day?

I’m having one hell of a time finding any decent Earth Day events and the lackluster earthday.org site is no help at all. I’m looking for an event in London as I’ll still be on the road that weekend, but as of yet have found sweet nothing. If anyone knows a good Earth Day event guide, share it up please.

Or is Earth Day a North American type of thing only?
